iCharging Wins Taiwan Highway Charging Project Again
iCharging has once again secured an eight-year operation contract for highway service area charging stations, bringing the total to ten stations, including the first-phase supercharging stations. In addition to the completed stations at Hukou (both directions), Qingshui, and Dongshan service areas, the second phase will introduce new stations at Su’ao, Tai’an (both directions), Guanxi, and Rende (both directions).
As the first nationwide highway supercharging station network to integrate a smart grid system, CHEM has incorporated hydrogen fuel cells as a power generation source. These fuel cells are certified by eight global telecom operators, setting a benchmark for green transportation. CHEM is the world's only heavy electrical equipment manufacturer with expertise in both hydrogen fuel cells and smart microgrid technology. Leveraging its strong brand ecosystem, CHEM is well-positioned to support the transition to an all-electric vehicle era over the next 12 years. The second-phase supercharging stations will feature 44 charging bays, with 350kW ultra-fast chargers to meet the demands of highway EV drivers.
To celebrate this milestone, iCharging is launching the second round of its Plug & Charge event, which has received overwhelming participation. As Taiwan’s first charging service provider to introduce Plug & Charge technology, CHEM offers a seamless charging experience where drivers simply plug in and charge—without additional steps—saving both time and effort. Customers who successfully complete the Plug & Charge activation process can enjoy a discounted rate of TWD 6.5 per kWh until April 30, 2023. Due to high demand from EV owners who missed the first round, the promotion has been reinstated. (For details, visit: https://www.icharging.com.tw/tw/news-detail/plugandcharge6.5)
Successful activation grants immediate access to the discounted rate the next day, allowing EV owners to save significantly during the New Year's holiday and Lunar New Year travel period. This initiative also reduces wait times at charging stations during peak holiday traffic, ensuring a smoother and more efficient charging experience.
