iCharging Launches Full 14MW Highway Charging Network

With the rapid growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market, the expansion of charging infrastructure has become a pivotal driver for green transportation. On September 10, 2024, CHEM iCharging proudly announced the completion of its Phase III National Highway Service Area Charging Station Development Plan, bringing six new fast-charging stations online simultaneously. This milestone underscores CHEM’s commitment to low-carbon, sustainable transportation.

Six New Stations Enhance Taiwan's Highway Green Charging Network

The newly launched fast-charging stations are strategically located at Shiding, Xinying South, Xinying North, Gukeng, Xiluo South, and Xiluo North service areas. With these additions, CHEM iCharging now operates 16 highway charging stations, significantly expanding the coverage of Taiwan’s national highway charging network. EV drivers can now embark on long-distance journeys without the stress of pre-charging, making highway travel more seamless and worry-free.

Since iCharging inaugurated its first highway service area fast-charging station in 2022, the number of registered EVs in Taiwan has surged from 17,000 to over 80,000. This rapid growth highlights the critical role of robust charging infrastructure in driving EV adoption.

The new stations are equipped with high-performance charging units, including 350kW 540A ultra-fast chargers at select locations, enabling drivers to recharge quickly. In addition, the iParking app offers exclusive member rates at NT$9.2 per kWh. Notably, the Xinying South and Xinying North stations feature shared charging spaces for both large and small vehicles, providing flexible and convenient solutions for logistics companies and EV owners alike.

Upgraded Phase I Equipment for Enhanced Charging Efficiency

Beyond the six new stations, iCharging has upgraded the equipment at its Phase I stations, including Hukou South, Hukou North, Qingshui, and Dongshan service areas. These upgrades include 350kW 540A chargers, significantly improving charging efficiency and reducing wait times, ensuring a superior charging experience for users.

Promoting Charging Roaming for Enhanced User Convenience

CHEM remains dedicated to advancing green transportation while fostering a shared charging network. By the end of 2024, CHEM will officially launch OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface) roaming in collaboration with EVOASIS, enabling seamless cross-platform charging for iCharging/iParking and EVOASIS members. This initiative will eliminate barriers between charging service providers, creating a truly interconnected charging network and enhancing convenience for EV drivers.

Reducing Carbon Emissions Equivalent to 128 Daan Forest Parks in One Year

iCharging highway service area stations integrate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hydrogen backup power systems, managed through an advanced Energy Management System (EMS). This setup effectively balances peak and off-peak energy use, minimizes power wastage, and prevents over-demand charges. By releasing stored energy during peak periods, the EMS reduces grid dependence and enhances stability. It is projected that this system will reduce carbon emissions equivalent to the annual absorption capacity of 128 Daan Forest Parks.

With its foundation in cutting-edge technology, CHEM continues to lead the future of EV charging infrastructure in Taiwan through continuous innovation and a robust charging network. CHEM remains committed to building a more convenient and reliable green transportation network for EV owners nationwide. Looking ahead, CHEM will continue collaborating with the government and industry partners to advance Taiwan’s green transportation initiatives and contribute to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
